NetCookie is a macintosh cookie client cdev/init. It Requires MacTCP.
Put it in the system folder or Control Panel folder ( on system 7)
Use is very simple. Open up the control panel and enter the name of a valid cookie server. (can be servers name or dot notation).
Click on get cookie now to get a quote from the server
Every time you reboot a quote will be put on your screen.
The cookie timeout is how long to wait for a reply from the server.
Window timeout only applies at startup. It is how long the window with the quote hangs around. It stays around at least 2 seconds +(time you set * number of lines in quote).
If you set a time of zero the quote hangs around until you click the mouse button. Clicking the mouse will always dispose of the quote window.
BUGS - Some quotes have too many lines to fit on a small screen
- Not very many error messages
Tried so far on:
SE/30 running system 7.0
Mac IIx running 6.05.
SE running 6.05, and sytem 7.
Mac/Plus running 6.07
If you need a cookie server ( runs on unix machines) you can get one via anonymous ftp to
jupiter.sun.csd.unb.ca /cookie/cookied.tar
Although I indicated that this program would be free I've changed my mind slightly. The shareware fee is a mail message to me telling me what you think of the program and please give me your suggestions for improvements and suggestions for other TCP/IP type programs you would like to see.
